Mission, Vision & Approach

Mission

Save A Life Today – NY exists to prevent suicide, strengthen community awareness, and ensure that every individual has access to hope, connection, and support. We advance this mission through compassionate outreach, evidence‑informed education and training, and dedicated services for survivors and those bereaved by suicide. Our commitment is to empower communities, reduce stigma, and create pathways to safety, healing, and resilience across the Capital District.

Vision

Save A Life Today – NY envisions a Capital District where every person is connected to hope, supported by community, and empowered with the knowledge and resources to prevent suicide. We strive for a future in which stigma is eliminated, help is accessible, and individuals, families, and neighborhoods are strengthened through compassion, education, and collective action. Our vision is a region where every life is valued, every voice is heard, and no one faces crisis or loss alone.

Our Approach

At saltodayny.org, we believe in a holistic approach to helping people in need. We not only provide them with basic needs but also education, healthcare, and emotional support. We work closely with communities to understand their needs and create sustainable solutions.

Core Values

Compassion — We meet every individual with empathy, dignity, and respect, recognizing the courage it takes to seek help and the importance of human connection in moments of crisis.

Prevention — We are committed to evidence‑informed strategies that reduce suicide risk, strengthen protective factors, and promote mental wellness across the Capital District.

Community — We believe prevention is a shared responsibility. We work collaboratively with individuals, families, organizations, and neighborhoods to build a safer, more connected region.

Education — We empower communities through accessible, high‑quality training and awareness programs that increase understanding, reduce stigma, and promote early intervention.

Support — We provide compassionate outreach and resources for survivors of suicide attempts and those bereaved by suicide, ensuring no one navigates crisis or loss alone.

Equity — We strive to ensure that all people—regardless of background, identity, or circumstance—have access to culturally responsive support, education, and pathways to safety.

Integrity — We uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical practice in all aspects of our work.
